With the warmer weather, I've wanted to bring out the bright colored t-shirts, the Lilly skirts, and even spice up my phone for the Spring.  This is my first time making iPhone/computer background, so you'll have to let me know how they work out!

In place of WILW, today I'm linking up with a bunch of fabulous bloggers for...

I go to bed early (like 11pm at the latest.)
It makes me want to throw up when you play with your gauges during class.
I don't understand why you insist on sleeping around every weekend.
I would rather spend the weekend relaxing.
I'm particular about the way I dress.
I really like bananas and peanut butter.
It annoys me when you think I'm stupid.
I look like a tragic mess 95% of the time.

In an effort to save money on my college budget, I've been doing a lot of research lately.  One place where I've been trying to save money is cosmetics and makeup.  I splurge on the things that are most important (for me, it's foundation/powder) and use budget items for things I either only use on occasion or I just want to try out.

Nars Orgasm Blush ($28) vs. E.L.F. Studio Blush ($3)
Anastasia Clear Brow Gel ($21) vs Maybelline Clear Mascara for Lash and Brow ($6)

Where do you save?  What products do you splurge on?

ps, Today I'm guest posting for A&C over at The Kennedys Amongst The Kardashians.  I hope you'll check out my Mind Your Manners Monday post!

Sunday Social {week three}

Sunday Social
This weeks Sunday Social is taking us back to middle school and high school.  Although that wasn't all too long ago for me, I thought I would still participate!

1. What was your biggest middle school fashion mistake?
Limited Too.

2. Who were your best friends in high school? Pics?
Well my high school best friends are my current best friends!  The four of us (Kristen, Marta, Diana, and myself) were nearly inseparable the three years of high school we were together (Diana graduated a year before us) and the few times a year we all get together prove to be an amazing time.

3. What was a typical weekend like for you in high school?
I usually spent Friday night at the dance studio, Saturday either studying or at a drama rehearsal, and Sundays were either spent at dance competitions or the dance studio.

4. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends? Tell us about that.
There was one.  But we don't need to go into that....right?

5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends? Spill your secrets!
Well the four of us were the AP Power Rangers because we all took AP 2-D Studio Art...so unless you want to count that as a secret code, nope.

6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?
I have to pick just one?!?!  Can I pick all of the late night/weekend drama rehearsals?

Saturday Recap {week seven}

Wow, y'all!  This week has gone by so fast...so fast that I barely took any pics on Instagram!

Toblerone is one of my favorite treats...so when I saw this in the check out line
@ Target, I knew I needed it!

Pretty papers and stickies make studying a whole lot easier.

Tuesday was super rainy and dreary and just incredibly gross.
But how could I be sad when  I had on this Lilly sweater!

Proof that I don't always dress nice!  #TeamNorts

I hope y'all had a great week!  I'll try to take a few more instagram snap shots this coming week! :)

Since one of my goals for 2013 is to read every night before bed, I've been finishing books a lot more quickly than I have in the past!  I thought I would start sharing the books I read in case y'all are looking for your next read!

1. Querido Diego, Te Abraza Quiela by Elena Poniatowska
I debated whether or not to share this one with y'all because I'm not sure if there is an English translation.  I read this for my Latin American literature class.  It's written in an epistolary form.  The main character, Quiela, is whiny and helpless.  Needless to say, this wasn't my favorite book ever.

2. Wasted by Marya Hornbacher
This was a really difficult book for me to read.  There were many points where I contemplated not finishing.  It is a memoir that details the authors experience with her eating disorders and mental illnesses.  It wasn't difficult because of the topic, but more because of the emotions that I felt when reading it.  It was definitely good, but not a happy read.

3. Beneath the Glitter by Elle and Blair Fowler
No.  Just no.  Do not pick up this book.  That's all.

4. Cronica de una muerte anunciada (Chronicle of a Death Foretold) by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Although I'm reading this in Spanish, I know that many of Garcia Marquez's books are available in English translations, so y'all will be able to pick up a copy!  This book is really interesting and the plot is kind of exciting!  At first I was disappointed because the first sentence of the novel tells what the whole book is about.  But when you get into the symbolism and themes, it's a really interesting read!

What have you been reading lately?

If you have an iPad and use powerpoint presentations in any of your classes...you need to get this app!  It's free and fabulous!  My art history class uses a slideshow every day and this app let's me see the slideshow and it doesn't mess up the formatting like many other apps do!  This app will also save the slideshows into the app so all of my Art History power points are saved together!  Perfect for when I need to go back and study!

20 in 2013 Update!

So we're about two and a half months into 2013 and I have to admit I've been majorly slacking with my 20 in 2013 goals!  However, in my defense, some of them were especially designed for the summer months and a few of them will have to wait until next winter...I can't exactly go ice skating in the spring, right?  Instead of focusing on the negative and the goals I haven't accomplished, I want to go ahead and talk about some of the goals that I have worked on!

I am happy to report that I have read for AT LEAST half an hour almost every night before bed!  The only nights that I haven't are the nights after ski trips...and understandably since I usually pass out shortly after returning to school!  Most nights I've even been reading for more than a half hour.  It gives me a chance to relax and it helps me sleep better!

This one definitely goes with reading every night before bed.  Obviously I haven't read 30 books yet this year, but I have read two and I'm halfway through a third!  I have a long to-read list, but if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

I haven't failed with this goal...but I haven't exactly succeeded either.  Let me put it this way, I've eaten something for lunch every day of the semester, but I haven't gone to the dining hall every day.  Sometimes I have a Luna bar and some mini rice cakes or a Greek yogurt in my room so that I can work on some homework during lunch.  Two of my classes this semester are a lot of reading, so it's a good time to work on those assignments.

I've blogged at least once a day since 1/1/13!  I'd say that's pretty consistently!  I've also started linking up on Saturday and Sundays which helps me to blog!

As many of you know, I've DEFINITELY succeeded with this one!  I've been sending between two and three cards/notes a week!  I love sending and receiving snail mail, plus it's a good way to take a break between assignments and do something fun and nice!

How are your 2013 goals going?

In lieu of Sunday Social this week, I wanted to go ahead and share some inspirational messages.

I don't know about y'all, but this time of the year always seems to put me in a slump.  It's halfway between Christmas break and Spring break (so even though I'm a sophomore, I'm super homesick!), classes are starting to pick up because professors are realizing they're behind in the syllabus, mid terms are just around the corner, and as an Admission's Tour Guide, accepted applicant weekends and junior open houses are on the horizon!  Needless to say, life is kind of crazy.

I've made it a goal this year (even if it's no where on my 20 in 2013 or on any other To Do or goal list) to strengthen my relationship with God.  I haven't been to church in an extremely long time and my Bible is still sitting on my nightstand....at home.  Luckily in this age of technology, it's as simple as downloading an App and having the scripture at the touch of a button.  The app that I'm using, YouVersion, also has guided reading plans, devotionals, and prayers.

God challenges us each day.  But he doesn't do it to hurt us or make us weak.  Instead, he does it to help us grow as people and as Christians.  He has a unique and amazing journey planned for us and in order for us to be able to endure his path, he needs to test us to help us become strong enough to experience what he as planned.

It is so easy to blame God for "punishing" you or challenging you.  It is easy to get angry and feel rejected.  I challenge you to thank God for one think each day instead of getting angry for something that has happened. He works in mysterious way.

I'm not a bible-beating freak, but I do believe that each and every one of us, whether you believe in God or not, is being watched over and helped even if we think no one is protecting us.

I've been feeling really uninspired lately...I feel like my posts aren't as good/fun as they used to be.  Do y'all still like my blog?  Are there any kinds of posts you would like to see?  I have a lot of ideas..I just don't know if y'all would even be interested!

I used to hate Valentine's Day.  I thought it was too mushy and lovey...especially for someone who has been single on Valentine's Day for my entire twenty years of existence.  But then my good friend, Hannah, told me it was her favorite holiday.  She loves it for the chocolate and chick flicks.  I can totally get behind Valentine's Day for that reason...plus pink and hearts?  Yeah, I'm in as long as we don't have to talk about how I'm single!

So in honor of my new found love for Valentine's Day, I'm going to sit back with a bowl of Sweet Tart Conversation Harts and a good chick flick book tonight...you might even find me wearing red or pink today!

How do you feel about Valentine's Day?

I'm going to tell you a secret.  I really really really like peanut butter....and peanut butter on apple cinnamon rice cakes is my new favorite snack!  SO GOOD!

I am in desperate need of y'alls help.

For the most part, I don't have very sensitive skin...it doesn't dry out easily and I up until recently I didn't pay much attention to my skincare routine.  However, the area around my eyes is SO SENSITIVE.  It's always dry and painful.  I was using an Ole Henriksen eye gel that came with a little set I got, but it made my skin red and splotchy, so I quickly stopped using that.  But I haven't picked up anything new since.  My skin around my eyes is so dry that it's painful!

That's where y'all come in!  I've been doing some research (mostly on Sephora) about different eye creams and I was wondering if any of y'all had tried any or them or even had any other suggestions!  They don't have to be from Sephora, either!  Let me know!!  (I'm desperate...it literally hurts to even rub my eyes!)

Any opinions/suggestions?!?

I think today I'll....

because...

Friday night I started my birthday weekend with another trip to Wintergreen (awesome awesome night, by the way!)  Saturday night I was able to go out to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant with my friends from school, and Sunday night a bunch of my friends had their comedy show here on campus! Not the most exciting celebration, but it was enough for me!  Next year is the big 2-1, and I'm already thinking about how I'd like to celebrate! (I'm thinking a weekend get away at Snowshoe in WV or Massanutten in VA...but I have 365 days to figure that out!)
