Five Things

Danielle tagged me for the five things tag.  I was feeling really uninspired this weekend...I usually write most of my blogposts for the week on Sunday and I didn't write ANY.  Oops.  It was perfect timing that Danielle tagged me!

Essentially, I share five things about myself, and then I tag five people!

1. I've never really been shy.  I started dance lessons at age 2 and ever since I've loved to be on stage.  I participated in theater performances, dance recitals, and chorus concerts pretty much from elementary school until high school graduation!
2. I hate writing in pencil.  I'm a lefty, so it gets all over my hand and just generally makes a big old mess!
3.  Given limitless amounts of money, I would travel all over South and Central American on missions trips.
4. If it was socially acceptable, I would wear J. Crew minnie pants, a slightly oversized button down, and a top knot every day.
5. I really really really really like peanut butter...

I tag...

Sunday Social {week seven}

Sunday Social

1. What is your favorite thing about spring?
Not having to wear close-toed shoes and getting to wear bright colors! I love that moment when you can put away all of the winter clothes and pull out the Lilly!

2. What is your favorite kind of flower to grow or receive?
My favorite flowers are daisies. My parents sent me a bouquet of daisies when I first moved in to Sweet Briar! Daisy is the name of our college's founder's daughter (who the college was essentially created in memory of) so the Office of First-Year planning sells bouquets of daisies for the parents to send to their daughters and then we get them during orientation! It was really nice :)

3. What is your favorite nail polish color?
You really had to ask this? really? really? I don't have an all-time favorite. But my favorite as of RIGHT NOW (like right this minute) is OPI You're Such a Budapest.

4. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
I love skiing, but that's not exactly a spring activity! In the spring, I'd have to say taking my dog to the park or jogging path.

5. Do you have any fun spring plans? Details! :)
I'm going to Foxfield with a bunch of my friends from school!

What are you looking forward to most this spring?

Remember how last week I had mentioned that my poor baby MacBook had to spend some time at the Apple Hospital?  Well guess what?  Right now it's on it's way back to Apple.  Because there's no Apple store near my school, and my computer wouldn't turn on, it's making it's way back to Apple to HOPEFULLY get fixed.

In the meantime, I'll try to post little things here and there via my iPad, but it's extremely hard to use blogger on here!  If any of y'all know of any good apps to write posts on, let me know!

Have a great week!

{via}

You know those fancy no-crease hair ties that everyone is wild over these days?  Well I love them, too.  But I don't love the price.  I some things on pinterest over the summer that said that the material they are made of is called fold over elastic.  So I did a quick google search and found that many suppliers all over the internet sold the elastic and it was cheap.  Like 60 cents a yard...and a yard makes FOUR hair ties.  Sign me up!  Recently, I purchased chevron patterned elastic!  I've also seen glitter, polka dots, damask, and all kinds of other patterns!

It's so simple to make them and I can totally get behind that new price!

Do y'all want me to do a tutorial about how I make them?  I'm all about saving money and I'd love to share with you guys if you're interested!

Rebecca

Blog Lovin'

As I'm sure y'all have seen about a thousand times now, Google Reader will no longer be available in a few months.  So I'm hopping on the bandwagon and moving over to Blog Lovin'.

Follow on Bloglovin

I'm still getting used to the website, but I think if you click that button up there you should be able to find my Blog Lovin' page and hit suscribe!  Or, if you already follow me on your google reader, if you use this link, you should be able to import everyone from your google reader into Blog Lovin'!

I've already noticed one pro about Blog Lovin', they have an app!  You can download it on your iPhone or iPad and reads your favorite blogs on the go!

Are you switching over to blog lovin'?

This post summed up into one sentence:
I should really stop leaving the house looking like I'm going to work out.

The whole story:
Last Friday I woke up with really bad pain in both of my ears.  I've had ear infections before, and I was pretty sure that I needed some antibiotics.  So I woke up, made an appointment, and proceeded to quickly shower and get dressed in order to make the appointment.  I threw on an outfit that closely resembled this:
(Wet braid, glasses, and baseball cap included)

After my doctors appointment (where I found out I had a double ear infection and needed antibiotics...yay!), I had another appointment at the apple store for my laptop (another story for another day...or never.)  I had some time to kill so I decided to run over to the J. Crew outlet and see if there were any good deals.  I'm looking around and who do I see?  Lauren from A Monogram Love Affair.  Now I knew that she lived in my area and worked at J. Crew..but I did not expect to see her when I looked so atrocious (or like...ever...)  I awkwardly went up to her and asked if she was indeed the author of her blog.  I was so embarrassed.  I actually considered not saying hi because I looked so terrible.  (Well, she tweeted back to me after I apologized for being such a creeper...so I guess that means I wasn't TOO scary.)

The point of the story is:  I need to start wearing the clothes I have in my closet.  I do admit, I didn't pack well when I came home for break, but I still had plenty of tops that I could have thrown on with a pair of jeans!

Has anything like this ever happened to you?

Rebecca

Sunday Social
1. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Curl up in bed with a good book or a movie!

2. What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend?
If I could choose anything, I would be out on the boat at my lake house.  Otherwise, just relaxing with my family.

3. What is your favorite spring activity?
Hmm...is wearing skirts/dresses and sandals an activity? ;)

4. What is your favorite way to spend a winter day?
Once again, curling up in bed with a book or a movie.  Haha, can you tell, I'm not really that exciting?

5. What is your favorite season and why?
Spring, because I love wearing bright colors and skirts and sandals!  I hate close-toed shoes.

6. What is the best birthday you ever had?
They've all been pretty great in their own way...but my 16th birthday was pretty spectacular.  The night before (a Sunday night) I went to see Spamalot with my bestfriend and a few other people from school.  Then I spent the night in my bestfriend's room at school

Saturday Recap {week ten}

Pearls and Curls

Wait, it's not normal to be using two computers at once?

One night Alice just stood on my bed staring at me for twenty minutes before she laid down...

I was cleaning my desk at home the other day and randomly came across a few of my college acceptance letters...
oh senior year...

My pretty Alice.  She loves sitting in the sun spot in our front sitting room.

My poor MacBook had to go to the Apple hospital this week....twice.
Hello new logic board...

What have y'all been up to this week?

If y'all have never heard of Ebates, you're missing out!

In simple terms, many online retailers participate in Ebates.  When you show through the link on their site, you get a percentage of your total back in cash.  Ebates will either pay you by check or through your paypal account.

If you do ANY type of shopping online, you NEED to check out Ebates!  After Christmas shopping, I got a $34 check!  Essentially, I got paid to buy Christmas gifts.

You sold?
Make your account and start shopping!  If you use this link, I'll get a referral credit.  But you can just sign onto the ebates website if you don't want to use my link!  Either way, start shopping and start getting cash back!

"Mini" Sephora Haul

Since there's no Sephora near school, whenever I'm home I make a point to stop in and see what's new!

My haul wasn't only mini because of the few things I purchased...but also because each item I purchased was a mini size!  The two Benefit products were the Sephora birthday gift, and the Josie Maran Argan oil was a 100-point perk.  I've been wanting to try the argan oil for a while, so I cashed in my Beauty Insider points for the trial size.  Finally, I purchased the trial size of the Soap and Glory face soap.  I'm working on changing up my skincare routine and I've loved all of the Soap and Glory products I've tried before.

I'm excited to try out these new products...and maybe I'll find something I really love!
Do you use any of these products?  Would y'all be interested if I updated you on how I feel about these goodies once I've used them?

Rebecca

OPI You're Such a Budapest / OPI Polka.com

I've really been loving this combination...and this glitter is to die for!  It's most certainly one of my favorite glitters right now!  I'm dying for spring and warmer weather, and it's easy to bring some bright colors to these dreary days with some pastel polish!

What are your favorite spring polishes?

Although I'm not off vacationing on an exotic island for spring break, I'm more than content to just be home!  I do have a lot of homework to get done while I'm here, but I'm also taking plenty of time to relax with my mom and dog (my dad is traveling for work this week), read, and just do a lot of nothing!

I only had plans for yesterday and today, and then the rest of the week I'm hoping to catch up on my TV shows, take Alice to the park, conquer all of the school work, and hopefully catch up with any friends that are in town.

Yesterday was my out and about day.  I had to take my computer and iPhone to the Apple store.  My computer's USB plugs weren't functioning properly, so that needed to be fixed asap.  When I plug something into the front port, it turns off my whole computer!  Occasionally the back port just doesn't work at all.  This made it really difficult to sync my phone, upload pictures, change my nook books, and just generally exist!  You don't realize how much you use something until you can't anymore.  My phone has been acting up lately, too.  So I figured while I was at the Apple store I might as well see if there is anything they can do!  I'm also hoping to pop into a few other stores in the mall and go over to the J. Crew outlet!

Today was Alice's day.  I had to take her to the groomer so she could get all freshened up for spring.  (Even though the arrival of warmer weather only means she's going to be getting twice as muddy and spending a whole lot more time in the woods..)

What are y'all up to this week?

Rebecca

I rarely shop at Forever 21.  Not because I hate the clothes or anything...but because the stores are usually so unorganized and overwhelming that I just leave because I get frustrated.  I've been wanting some new jewelry lately..nothing expensive, but something to spruce up a few of my outfits.  Instead of going into the store, I looked on the website first to see if there was anything I liked.  I was so surprised with what I found!

How perfect would some of these pieces be for spring?  I'm going to pop into the store today while I'm at the mall...hopefully I find a few of these things without having a panic attack!

Do you shop at Forever 21?

Rebecca
