Five Things I Wish I Knew About Foxfield Before I Went

1.  Floppy hats aren't only for looks
Ladies, although floppy monogrammed sunhats look great with your sundress, they're also quite useful.  I regret not having one!  I got sunburn in my scalp from where my hair was parted, but this could have been easily avoided with a floppy hat!  Don't worry y'all, Mama Mill has already come to the rescue and ordered a hat for next year.

2. There will be no cell reception
If you plan on meeting up with any friends who aren't going to be at your plot, make sure to arrange a meeting time and place BEFORE you get to the race.  I was so glad that kKh had told me where her plot was so I was able to easily meet up with her!  Unfortunately, although I did know where eCm's plot was, finding her was a little more tricky.  Luckily, she was able to find my plot!

3. If you don't put on sunscreen religiously you will regret it
Enough said...I regret it.

4. You will not do any homework the next day
I spent most of Sunday until about 2 or 3pm just laying in bed.  I was sore (from who knows what?!) and just exhausted!  I should have planned better the week before and done more work.

5. If your plot is between two neighboring UVa frats, you might have more fun than you bargained for
Our plot was between two of UVa's frats who had a lot of mutual friends.  To say the least, our quaint, quiet plot was taken over by rowdy frat guys.  It was actually more fun this way because the one frat had music set up and it provided more entertainment.

Foxfield!

To say I had a great weekend would be an understatement.  A Saturday full of Lilly and friends and a Sunday full of relaxing and studying?  Well, I guess I could have done without the studying part :)

First, and foremost, YES, I did see a horse!  Everyone kept telling me that it would be really easy for me to go the entire day without actually seeing the horses.  Our plot backed up right to the track, so we stood at the fence during each race!

And again, further proof that we did see horses!
hFe, nRr, and I

Although the entire day was fabulous, I'd have to say the best part, was seeing eCm, one of my best friends from high school!  eCm used to live in NYC, so we would see each other in PA once in a while, but she just recently moved to Washington state, so I was glad to be able to see her before she goes home for the summer.

Outfit:
Lilly Pulitzer State of Mind Ricci Shift, Lilly Pulitzer McKim Sandals
And wSa, our fearless photographer for the day!

The icing on the cake? Meeting kKh!  kKh and I are in a facebook group together for Lilly lovers, so it was great to finally be able to put a face to a name.  kKh graduated from UVa, where eCm goes, and they are both in the same sorority...small world?

All in all, it was a perfect day.  Despite the sunburn (public service announcement, do not wear a dress with cutouts to an all-day outdoor event..umm..), I had loads of fun and I can't wait for next year!  And in the meantime, I need to pick up a floppy hat, monogrammed, of course.  Sunburn in your scalp is not pleasant.

Did any of y'all go to Foxfield?  Did ya have a great time?

With Spring weather occasionally here and summer right around the corner, I thought it was only fitting to make my spring wishlist!  I, surprisingly, haven't bought any new clothes since spring break (and then I believe I only bought a new shirt!)

Spring Wishlist

Here's just a few of the things I'm lusting after this spring...mainly those neon pink chino shorts and jean jacket!

What are you hoping to pick up for the warmer weather?

I purchased the "cube" of mini polishes with the resort collection, and I'm totally in love!  I have In The Cab-Ana on my toes and Come Here! on my nails.

What polishes have you been loving for Spring?  Would y'all be interested in seeing a whole post on some of my favorite polishes for Spring?

This Saturday I'm heading up to Charlottesville to go to Foxfield!  I'm so excited...but I have one problem.  I don't know what to wear!

Foxfield!

Which dress should I wear?  Which shoes?!
eek!  Help!

Wow, y'all!  It was a whirlwind of a weekend!

I usually spend my weekends studying, doing homework, catching up on tv shows, and relaxing!  This weekend was totally different!  Saturday night the Campus Events Association at my college hosted an event called Spring Fling.  It was AWESOME.

Canaan Smith and Love and Theft performed at my school!  If y'all have never heard of either of these bands...listen to this song by Canaan Smith!
(Sorry for the poor quality, he doesn't even have any of his songs on iTunes!)
It was a really awesome concert and I was so lucky that it was right on my own campus!  CEO also arranged for a BBQ dinner on the quad and ice cream and popcorn later that night!

After a late night listening to Love and Theft, I was up at 5:50am on Sunday for a day trip to Washington, D.C.  My Art of the Early Americas class took a field trip to the National Museum of the American Indian and Dumbarton Oaks.  I had already been to the NMAI, but this time I was able to look around without a tour guide.  I'm a Latin American Studies minor, so seeing all of the art from the Aztec and Incan empires was really exciting for me. #nerdalert

To say this weekend was crazy would be an understatement, but with only two weeks left in my sophomore year of college, I may as well make the best of them!  Next Saturday I'll be heading to Foxfield in Charlottesville!  Will any of y'all be there?!  I'd love to meet up!

What did YOU do this weekend?!

Sunday Social {week ten}

Sunday Social

1. What is your shopping weakness?
J. Crew.  I didn't even have to think twice about this.  I'm pretty sure I have never left a J. Crew or J. Crew Factory Store without at least ONE thing.

2. What is your food weakness?
Chocolate...

3. What is your go to movie to watch when nothing is on?
If I'm home, The Parent Trap (because I have the VHS tape.)  At school, probably a Disney movie off of Netflix, but I tend to wear TV Shows on netflix as opposed to movies.

4. What is your go to breakfast food?
Plain bagel and cream cheese.

5. Do you drink coffee? If so, how do you take it?
I don't drink coffee!

Wanna dress up a bit?  Have a presentation in class?  A job or internship interview?  I'm in love with this skirt from J. Crew Factory.  It would be so versatile.  Depending on what shoes and shirt you wear it could either be really dressy or something to slip on for class and a meeting.

What do you like to wear in the spring and summer?
xoxo,
Rebecca

ps, Are any of y'all going to Foxfield next weekend?  I can't wait!  I'm still getting my outfit together, but I know it will include some pink and green and a whole lot of Lilly!

And we're back to my spring fashion showcase...

Chilly spring morning?  Throw on some colored jeans!  You can wear them full length in the morning, and then cuff them up to ankle or capri length as it warms up!  I thought this ikat t-shirt from J. Crew Factory was so cute and the print makes the t-shirt a little more appealing!  If y'all haven't noticed, I'm big on easy and comfortable outfits for class!

Regardless of if you go to Virginia Tech or know anyone who does...

In addition to my prayers for those who were effected by the tragedy in Boston, I'm also sending many prayers to those who were effected by that tragic day in 2007.

Regardless of if I'm a Sweet Briar Vixen or a Linden Hall Lion, today I'm a Virginia Tech Hokie.

xoxo,
Rebecca

In lieu of my second spring/summer outfit post, I thought it was more fitting that we all take a moment to pray and think about those who were effected yesterday.

Although I did not know anyone running the marathon, I know many people who live in/around Boston who were volunteering, at work, or even at school in the city.  I was so glad to receive a text from one of my high school friends letting us know she was "still in her PJs and did not intend on moving from her apartment."

I admit I have been a TERRIBLE blogger lately!  There is no excuse, but as a means to get back into the swing of things, all week I'll be featuring some of my favorite outfits for spring/summer!

In the spring, I'm all about throwing on a pair of shorts and a top and heading out.  Classes are starting to pile on the work, clubs are finishing up last minute requirements, and it's already time to start thinking about next semester!  Although I don't have a pair of denim shorts, I'm hoping to pick up the pair I featured from J. Crew Factory.  They'd be great to pair with any kind of top, a pair of sandals, and some quick jewelry.

xoxo,
Rebecca

p.s., I'm looking for some guest posters for the week of May 6th as I wrap up my semester and begin final exams.  If any of y'all are interested, just leave a comment or email me! :)

I'll admit, it's an eclectic taste in music...some oldies and some new songs, too.

I'm always looking for new music...so what are you listening to these days?

Sunday Social {week nine}

Sunday Social
I'm not a huge pinner...well I get on Pinterest sprees.  I won't pin for a long time and then I just go crazy for a few days!  But let's see what I can find in my boards...
If any of the pins have links to recipes/instructions, I've linked the pictures!

1. What is your favorite outfit pin?

2. What is your favorite food pin?
I've actually made this.  It was really good!  I just bought a bag of premade pizza dough from Trader Joe's!
3. What is your favorite wedding pin?
Surprisingly, I don't have any wedding pins!  Guess it's just not something on my mind right now... (don't worry, Mom!)
4. What is your favorite DIY/craft pin?

5. What is your favorite quote/verse/lyric pin?
6. Share on more random pin you love.
Looking for a new polish? :)
