Barbour Style

Recently I purchased my first Barbour coat.  It's not a purchase that came easily...in fact, I had been debating for over a year if the coat was worth the cost.  Then, on the Monday after Thanksgiving, Tuckernuck had a 20% off coupon code that could be used on Barbour coats, and I knew if I was going to take the plunge, now was the time.

I decided to order the Beadnell jacket in the olive color.  The Beadnell is the women's cut jacket, so I ordered it in a size larger so it would still have some shaping but also that oversized look that is so popular with the Barbour.

Since the jacket was such a big investment, I want to make sure I am getting tons of wear out of it.  I've come up with a few different ways to wear your Barbour.  Making outfits on Polyvore helps me to think of new ways to pair together pieces I own and to create outfits with pieces I wish I owned (Hunter boots).

Barbour #1

I think this is an outfit I will be sporting a lot this semester!  It's simple and cozy, while still being dressy and presentable.  I am a huge fan of button down shirts...stripes, solids, gingham, you name it, I've probably got a few.  I would either pair the button down with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans (I like J. Crew toothpick jeans) or J. Crew Minnie pants.  Add a pair of riding boots, bean boots, or rain bows, and you're good to go!  If it's especially chilly, or you need to add a pop of color to your outfit, a scarf is a great addition!

Barbour #2
The great thing, in my opinion, about Barbour jackets is that they can be dressed up and dressed down.  Depending on where you are going, I think a Barbour would look great paired with a skirt, tights, and flats.  I got this J. Crew Tartan Skirt for Christmas, and I can see myself pairing it with my Barbour for a busy day when I still want to look put together.

Barbour #3

And the look that I'll probably sport the most with my Barbour?  Comfy Casual.  Running to class, then a meeting, then lunch with your tap club sisters, then work, then two more meetings before  a marathon study session in the library?  You've got to pick an outfit that's functional, warm, and comfortable.  I didn't know that a piece of clothing could change my life...until I received the Patagonia Snap-T for Christmas.  Ladies (and gentlemen?) go get yourself one.  So warm and cozy, and I can guarantee I'll be wearing it at least every other day until it warms up.

How would you (or do you) style a Barbour jacket?
xoxo,
Rebecca

  1. I love this post! I am guilty of just throwing my Barbour on over anything but I think I need to branch out and start trying to wear it in a more dressy outfit - after I've re-waxed it!

  2. I love this Rebecca! I just bought one of the Barbour for J. Crew coats, and it is purple and quilted. Love the idea of using polyvore!

  4. So jealous of your new Barbour! I have a quilted one, but not the Beadnell, which is what I've been mulling over for a while! Sadly, I haven't stumbled upon any amazing coupon like you did! Definitely a smart move to pounce when you did! Love the looks you put together, too, especially the Girly Chic!

  5. I love all the looks you put together! They're all very put together and reasonable. I hadn't heard of Barbour until recently, but after all the hype, I might need to save up to purchase one next winter!
