Finals Frenzy

With the end of the semester quickly approaching, I thought it was only necessary that I touch on the topic of final exams.  Here at Sweet Briar, classes end on May 6th and exams start on May 9th.  Fortunately, I only have one sit down exam this semester, but I have three written take home exams and a final project due by the end of exam week as well.  The final projects in my other two classes are due on May 6th.

Needless to say, it's crunch time.  Now isn't the time to let your stress get in the way or procrastinate by watching the new season of Breaking Amish that was just released on Netflix (I admit, I am totally guilty of this...)  Personally, my goal is to power through the next two weeks so I can not spend the entire exam week at school working on projects, but instead be home relaxing and starting my summer!

Just a few of my tried and true tricks to get yourself through finals with without any major breakdowns...

1) Make lists.  Yes, more than one.  I like to keep one long list that for the next two weeks that I continually add things to as they get assigned or as I realize that they need to be done.  Then I make a smaller list of each assignment or task that I need to finish in a specific day.

2) Make a schedule (and stick to it!)  I don't know if I'm the only one, but the end of the year also brings all kinds of events and meetings.  Although I don't want to miss out on any of those, I don't want to fall behind on my work either.  By creating a schedule that outlines the meetings and events, and also schedules in some study time, I'm sure to have plenty of time to complete everything.

3) Breathe! It's stressful and everyone gets a little cranky, but don't forget to breathe!  Take some time every day to do something for yourself, whether it be painting your nails, sending some snail mail to a friend, or surfing through your favorite instagram tag, just do it!

Keep your chin up and make stuff happen!
xoxo,
Rebecca
