As the weather gets warmer, I want nothing to do with a hot meal for breakfast or lunch. I trade in my made to order eggs for a smoothie or breakfast bar. I've been enjoying making smoothies in my dorm room lately. In addition to being a yummy treat, depending on what you use to make them, they can actually be really healthy!
Here's the basic recipe I use to make the perfect smoothie (in my mind, at least!):
The thing I like about my "recipe" is you can adjust it to use what you have in the fridge or to use an ingredient you really like! For instance, if you don't like almond milk, you can certainly use cow's milk or soy milk.
I tend to use frozen fruit, or a combination of fresh fruit and ice, so the smoothie has an icy consistency and it is cold. While I'm at school, it's much easier to just go for pre-packaged frozen fruit, but while I'm home, I go for fresh fruit because it's so easy to obtain from the farm markets!
