Foxfield is practically a holiday here in Central Virginia. It's the Carolina Cup of our area, and although I've never been to Carolina Cup...yet, I'd bargain it's just as much fun!
This will be my second year at the races, and I just can't wait! It was tons of fun last year, but I know it will be even more fun this year since more of my friends will be going.
Of course the most important part of getting ready for Foxfield is picking your outfit. You'll see a lot of Lilly...and I'm not exception as I'll be wearing a Lilly shift. While picking your outfit, pick something light, comfortable, and fun!
Foxfield isn't the time to wear your favorite wedges. Essentially, you'll be walking around a big field all day. Unfortunately the forecast has some rain for the day before, so the field may even be a little muddy. I'd go for your favorite pair of flat sandals, or if the rain continues into Saturday, maybe even a pair of wellies.
Last, but certainly most important, a big sun hat is necessary. Although they sure do look nice on Derby Day, they're even more important for practical reasons. They keep the sun off of your face, neck, and shoulders. Last year I didn't have a hat, and boy do I regret it!
I'll be back on Friday with another Foxfield post, but if any of y'all are going to be there, let me know! I'd love to meet up with you!
